Nashville St. Plaza
Ringgold, GA

On April 27th, 2011 an EF4 tornado touched down in Ringgold, GA leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Many homes, businesses, and schools were either damaged or destroyed. One of the many areas that required extensive rebuilding was the Nashville Street area of Ringgold, former home of Chow Time 50s style diner.

In order to rebuild this plaza, which was to house a new 6,000 sq. ft. building, Passpointe designed a new 32-space parking lot, grading plan, erosion prevention and sediment control plan, and stormwater management plan. The stormwater management plan incorporated low impact development (LID) principles, including two bio-retention ponds and several landscaped areas. Since the original site was inside the 100-year flood plain and additional fill was required, a “No-Rise” floodway analysis was required to show that there was no impact to the flood elevation of South Chickamauga Creek. The outcome of this project was a re-developed and landscaped one-acre site which reduced its impervious area by 35 percent.
